Family Reunion

If you are of the Burnett clan, there will be a family reunion on the Oregon Coast, soon. If you need more info, comment here and I will answer. No one will see it except me, and I do not have to post it. I don't to put personal info here, nor do I want to put particulars about events.

If you do not wish to comment here, the person to contact is Jenni Harper.

Still plugging away on the house sale/mobile purchase.

What? Scam?

A new scam, another way for the people who want something instead of getting a job. I don't know how many times a day we get "Potential Scam" phone calls. I guess that is their job. See below.

There was another Open House from 3 pm to 6 pm yesterday. Vic's siblings, Craig and Diana, were here with their spouses, Darell, and Ellen, and we were all at Deb and Farrell's to visit and have dinner. We got home about 10 pm. All the lights were on in the house with the blinds open, which was disconcerting. I thought the realtor was supposed to turn the lights off. And, this really ticked me off: someone had messed with the thermostat and set it in the mid-50s. It was frigid in here. Why in the world would someone do that? They also didn't shut the slider in our bedroom correctly and jammed the lock so Vic had to get a screwdriver and fix it. Let's just say there will never be another Open House. Both of us are to the point where we are tired of all of this. We want to go back to our messy selves! Vic wants to draw! Nancy wants to create. At least I have my letter-writing-to nursing-homes project to keep me occupied. I'm at 320 letters now. I've received another letter in return, this time from three ladies!

Please note: Jessica, our daughter-in-law is not the one who conducted the Open House. She is our realtor but another person from their firm did both Open Houses.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation issued a warning this week about a new type of "brushing" scam. "In a traditional brushing scam, online vendors send merchandise to an unsolicited recipient and then use the recipient's information to post a positive review of the product," reads a statement the FBI's Pittsburgh field office posted on X.

Here We Go Again

Two offers have been made, one on a condo, and another on a house, for one thing or another they did not work out. We are trying again. We are trying to purchase the mfg. home we looked at before those two offers were made. The only reason we didn't follow through with it at the time is that we thought Hubby should have a garage. There is not one there but there is a little building in the back and he is going to see about building a larger one if this all works out. We have til September 12 to sell our house. But since we have a contingency, we can be bumped. If this one doesn't work out, I give up!

I've been reading books on my Kindle Fire. I think I've read three this last week. I'll start another one today. I used to read prolifically but slacked way off when I started writing my book.

I'm hoping to see The Naked Gun this weekend. Derek says it is hilarious but I might find some things inappropriate! We like Liam Neeson and this will be a departure from his tough guy image, I'm thinking.

I really feel like being creative but not all of my supplies are here. I guess I didn't think it through before I put some of them in the storage pod. I guess I thought the house would sell fast. It's not a bad house, we like it a lot and are sad to be moving but we just can't keep it up. The yard is about half an acre and Hubby can't keep it up like it needs to be and he won't hire anyone else to do it because "they won't do it like I want them to."

Another thing I wish I didn't pack: my thermal water bottles. I'm using just one and wish I had another to switch off with. Or have two different beverages going. Like water in one and my sparkling water in another. Life is tough, isn't it? LOL.

Summer's last hurrah is just around the corner. Enjoy what's left of it.

Happy

How can a person not be happy when listening to Pharrell Williams' song? I'm chair dancing!

I can see a red rose peeking over the fence outside the craft room window. Against the background of the green dogwood tree, it is stunning.

There have been no more showings of our house since the Open House a week ago yesterday. God has someone in mind; we just have to be patient. There is going to be another Open House next weekend and we've lowered the price.

The forecast was for 100 degrees plus. Right now it is 97 degrees. I don't think it got to 100. There is an Extreme Heat Warning until Tuesday at 10 p.m. with the high that day 104 degrees. This is when Hubby likes to go to the beach. We have a family reunion at the beach over Labor Day so I don't think we will be going before that. I'm not the one doing the family reunion; I turned in my family reunion coordinator badge at the last one. They were always fun! A lot of work, but still fun!

I'm off to put my swollen feet and legs up, doctor's orders. I'm reading a book on my Fire tablet so I won't mind.

Another "Guilty"

Do you have a guilty pleasure? I have a few.

~ SF Snickers Iced Coffee with whip at Wake Up Call or SF Vanilla Iced Breve at Starbucks

~ Frixion Clicker Erasable 1.0 pens in blue - I use them up quickly with letter writing

~ That sip of half n' half in the coffee cup before brewing my morning coffee in the Keurig

~ Staying in my pjs all day. At night they are pajamas, during the day, lounge wear

What are yours? Make a comment, I'll approve it and add to the bottom of this post.

Doug, my bro, has fixed our fireplace and it works! We've lived here six years and haven't been able to use it. It is natural gas, and the fire is so pretty. He tried to fix the little gas fireplace stove in the family room, but it is old, and the parts are no longer available. Thank you, Doug! It has been fun having him here, we have been yakking about our families and how wonderful our kids are!

Guilty!

I received a Jury Summons. I don't know how my name always gets picked. I've been on juries before and enjoyed it, but there's no way I can do it this time. I have to take a "potty pill" daily. They would have to put an outhouse in the jury pit... Not to mention my other problems. I see my nephrologist tomorrow so I hope he can give me a letter to be excused.

One of the juries I served on was for a federal case, in Yakima, WA, it was an arson case and the blamed was a Native American young man. I feel he was probably guilty, but the prosecution didn't prove it beyond a reasonable doubt. The prosecutor sat with his legs all stretched out in front of him, lying almost prone is his chair. He would roll his eyes at the defense attorney, so very disrespectful. And one of the witnesses wasn't summoned! Luckily, I was able to relay my observations when I received a feedback questionnaire.

I've been writing letters to the nursing homes. When I'm writing along, I expect the words to be underlined and give me the correct spelling, like the Word does when I'm typing away here! Or in emails and texts. No such luck. I'm amazed at the spelling abilities I once had but have lost that confidence. Another old age failure? And I can't write cursive in a straight line any longer, the lines slant up from left to right.  I need lines. I've made a page of lines to put behind the paper without lines or I print lines on the blank pages.

Hoping to hear from the realtor today.

What?

We have a second rejection, we think. We made an offer on a house in West Richand, but so did two others! We have a contingency to sell our house so someone without one could get their offer accepted. Back to square one. Looking for another place. Or, are we to stay here? We shall see what God has planned for us.

The Open House yesterday had a good turnout with people coming to look, we were told, and the feedback was favorable. One group was three "old ladies" looking for a house to share. Ha, Golden Girls! In the night I thought to myself that maybe they are pretending to want to buy a house to share, that this is how they entertain themselves, going to Open Houses! Maybe I was being Eeyore.

We buy the Kirkland toilet paper at Costco. This package has a flaw. The perforation doesn't go across the width of the roll; it rips and leaves part hanging down and the layers separate. So annoying! Is that happening with any of you?

I need some of my craft supplies out of the pod! Haha, I won't get it. It's not parked here and all the stuff in it is packed tight. Who knows where the craft room stuff is... I'll live without it.

Stay tuned for the continuing drama of Vic and Nancy's Moving Story. Will they stay where they are and will Vic actually let someone else do his yard work? Will they move to a house with a decent sized bedroom for Nancy's craft room? Time will tell.

Plea

 Dear Microsoft Edge,

Could you please put some positive, happy feed on the home page? And less about movie/tv stars I've never heard of? And please quit reporting about people that kill their own children. Don't feed their disgusting evilness. Same with the Idaho murders. I have quit reading about that evil. And the evil one himself loves the attention... so, please do something or I might have to get a different browser. ~Nancy
